My Life Plan

 My #LifePlan

So, in my last post (What’s Your Life Plan?) I gave you a task, to lay out in detail the perfect day, 5 years from now. Now what kinda evil person would I be if I asked you to do something, and not require the same of myself? So here’s a peek into my crazy little brain, as I share with you a lifelong dream/fantasy I have had ever since I can remember.  This took me about three minutes to write because, for all of my adult life this exact picture, this exact day, has been what I’ve fantasized of as my perfect life.

This is my lifelong fantasy.

It’s 2016: I am 41, Kanen is 13 and the girls (my twins) are 9 years old.

I’m standing on the balcony of a villa over-looking the Italian countryside. Vineyards stretched out over the rolling hills. It’s a warm summer evening, lavender in the air. I take a slow sip from my glass of wine; inhale the bouquet, let my nose do a little dance, savoring the flavors swirling them around my mouth.

There’s a tall, gorgeous man walking towards me with an open bottle of Barbaresco. He graciously tops off my glass, leans in to kiss my forehead, and rests his hand on the small of my back. We lean against the brick railing, and I smile watching the girls play in the vineyard. They are kicking a soccer ball, trying to score goals against their strong, tall older brother.  A few of the neighbor kids are playing too, working up a sweet, shouting soccer plays in Italian. They try to keep the ball from the girls, who are enjoying the competition.

My kids are in Italy! Laughing and saying things like “Ciao” and “Bella.”

I’ve found my bliss. The kind of happiness that glows on the inside, and never stops manifesting itself on the outside. The kind that brings its best friend joy, along for the ride. I am filled with a peaceful calmness I rarely know.  I’m not worried, or stressed. My brain is not overwellmed with thoughts of bills because money is no longer an issue. There are no schedules, or emails, text messages, Facebook, or phones.

Nothing but this moment occupies my thoughts. I don’t have to work a 9-5:00 anymore. This is the reward for a lifetime of pain, suffering, struggle and hard work.

 Time does not expire here.

We play, we eat amazing food, we cook. We shop in the open-air markets; we drink wine, and sip espresso.

The kids use their Italian to order dinner when we go out to dimly lit restaurants with large Italian grandmothers bringing us plates of meaty pasta. We eat fresh seafood that leathery old fishermen bring off their aging fishing boats. We dip warm freshly baked bread in cold pressed olive oil.

We drive to the Rivera in a sports car, the girls and I with scarfs around our hair like 1940’s movie stars. We stay in brightly colored stucco hotels overlooking the cliffs with the mist of the sea in the air. Drink chilled Champagne. We take the train, go to museums, and sing hymns in ancient cathedrals.

Our minds expand, our knowledge grows.

I feel beautiful, maybe for the first time in my life. I am fit and confident, the result of compleating my first (and only) marathon.

In quiet moments I write. One day I’ll hold a book I wrote in these hands.

This is all the heaven I need.

This is what I hustle for. This is my dream, and one day it will be my reality.

What’s Your Life Plan?

So whats your life plan? Ever been asked in an interview where do you see yourself in five years? And if you’re smart (and I know my readers are) you did your homework and know that employers love asking this question, primarily because it makes them feel smart.
But can you answer it? I want you to do this for me. Answer it.

Get out a pen and paper and answer these following questions in as much exquisite detail as your little imagination can muster. DETAILS, DETAILS, DETAILS. Paint an EXACT picture of the following:

Envision a specific day 5 years from now, that’s September 2016 (in case your bad at math like me!). How old does that make you then?
Pick the time of day, the weather, paint the picture for your brain so you can screen-shot it in your mind when you’re done. Money and your current circumstances are NOT part of this picture; you have been given a blank check to your LIFE.

  • What does your life look like?
  • Where are you?
  • What are you doing?
  • Are you happy?
  • Who is with you? (It doesn’t need to be a specific person by name, but the type of person/people)
  • Where have you gone in the past 5 years?
  • Who did you go with?
  • What experiences have you had? (Did you cross off items on your Bucket List? Do you have a bucket list? Do you know what one is?)
  • What do you look like?
  • How do you feel?
  • What does your career look like? Are you working?

Picture every detail of that day, envision all of it. Don’t allow ANY TYPE OF LIMITATION to this fantasy. No this is realistically what I’d be doing then, or this is what I should be doing then, this is purely your movie for your perfect life. It’s like how most people fill out their online dating profile, make the shit up to make themselves look better than they really are (Not me of course!). But know what this day looks and feels like; create it so clearly that on demand you can pull it up whenever you need it.

That day is the inspiration for your Future Board. It is your future board. That is your Ultimate Dream plan. That day is what life is all about. Life is so very short. If this is what your true inner self imagines your life to be, then don’t you think you owe it to yourself to make it happen?  Do you really want to live your life knowing what you are capable of, but living with what if?

Life is short.

This day is not about a house, or a specific partner or spouse, or a car, or a job. It’s about your ultimate, best, most complete LIFE.
dream big quotesThat is the choice you are faced with right now. It’s so much bigger than the immediate things you are going through, whatever those may be. It’s the choice that will determine the rest of your life.  Your future life is whatever YOU decide it’s going to be. You have the power to make that imaginary day your REAL LIFE. Who cares if you have to start from scratch, or even if you have to lose a few things in the process, you are so much stronger than you know.
This you can do. This you can DO.  You just need to ask yourself, what do I WANT?  The rest is easy.

The Grass is NOT Always Greener.

Why do we always want what we cant have? And when it’s right in front of our face, when it’s ours we turn our back and walk away from it.

grass is not greener on the other side
Exactly. Thank you.

What kinda twisted logic is that?

In relationships, when your with someone it’s often easier to see all the things you don’t like about them, than the things you love. All the things they do that annoy you, hurt your feelings, make you want to kick and scream like a 2 year old. It seems so easy to just quit, hop the fence and graze on the green grass across the street.

These days everyone has been conditioned to believe that they don’t need, and shouldn’t have to change for any body. It’s like a bunch of adults roaming the planet sayin’ I’m perfect just the way I am, no flaws, nothing to change. If you don’t like me exactly how I am then screw you! I’ll find someone who does, as they walk out to the desert to die alone.

Come on people! Who told you your perfect? Who told you that you should never have to compromise to be in a healthy relationship? How did an entire generation (s) of adults come to this retarded conclusion? I know it’s shocking and probably a bit controversial to say…but your not perfect! No one is. To get love in this life and to be the half to a health relationships whole there must be compromise.

I’m not saying give up your morals, core belief systems, or who you are, but I am saying that a healthy amount of compromise is what is required to make a good relationship/marriage work. Without that you have one dominate party and one ultra submissive party. Then one day the submissive party is gonna snap like a disgruntled postal worker and from seemingly nowhere let all that steam rolling come back to bite you in the ass.

I’m guilty of this too. I have been guilty of both scenarios. I’m a very confident dominate women, it’s not a good look for me to be paired with a very submissive man, (ex-husband/me ratio case in point). So for the first few years of being single, I was all I’m not settling for anyone or anything that’s not perfect. I’m walking out on the first fight. If it’s not easy it’s not worth it. I’m still not willing to settle for less than I deserve, on any of my core expectations, but the difference is I’ve learned that when you do stumble across a rare find; the needle in the haystack…maybe it would be wise to fight for it rather then walk away.

So you don’t find yourself in the ridiculous, but all too familiar predicament those of us dating adults often do…wanting what we can no longer have. Hind site is always 20/20 and I believe that everyone is brought into our lives to teach us something about ourselves, and their presence in our lives is a gift regardless of how it ends. And when it does end I’ve learned how to have peace knowing that Hustle.Believe.Receive. is working to bring the right person into my life. That the lessons I’ve learned from all the Mr. Wrong’s have prepared me to more maturely, and appropriately receive Mr. Right.

I’m glad somebody is getting this!

The Biggest Challenge of MY Life

I’m about to embark on the biggest challenge of my life, and I’m scared out of my mind.
I met my trainer yesterday.
Need I say more?
Didn’t think so.

That does NOT take away from the very serious fact that one of my greatest earthly fears (aside from drowning and plane crashes) is working out with a trainer. I mean it’s so humiliating. They see you at your most disgusting (and they are usually hot, so let’s just add insult to injury why don’t we). I have NEVER worked out with anyone my entire life, and yes despite what you might think, I do work out. I’ve gone from fit, to not fit, to fit so many times in my life I’ve lost count. But I’ve never made it there, where I really want to be.  It’s been a life long elusive battle. And since I first found Jane Fonda at 13 I’ve been trying to find my burn, alone.

The thought of working out while someone watches me is just so repulsive.
Ugh.
I’m dreading this.
I’d rather pull my hair out.

My poor trainer, bless his heart, he believes in me. I believe in me too, just not as much as he does, but again that is his role in all of this right? And I’m CONVINCED he is going to turn me into a pin-up, poster child of awesomeness. No doubt in my mind. Sadly I do realize that I have a minor role in this transformation, but heck if he can believe in me and give me a blank slate from which to sculpt a super-model, I’d be stupid not to listen right?

Thank god I believe in the Law of Attraction. That alone helped me take off and keep off 35 lbs the past 2 years, but now I want more. I wanna see what I’m made of, what I’m capable of. I figured what better way to prove to myself that I really can achieve anything than to get in the best shape of my life at 36, I mean how hot would that be? I’ve always said I’d rather look amazing at 40 then at 20, so now is my chance. (OMG, just realized for the very first time, that 40 is 4 years away, why am I so bad at math? Maybe it’s a self defense mechanism). This particular goal has been one that has loomed larger then life since I was like 12, and was first called chubby (maybe I was 7, who knows) but I’ve ALWAYS wanted to know if I was really capable of getting there, of having the body I knew was here somewhere hiding under my curves.

This scares me on an ADD and discipline level too, lets be real. I’ve never considered myself terribly disciplined especially before learning how to apply the Law of Attraction. I had never focused or trained my mind to do anything before that. But now I know how, so I think the time is perfect to put it to a physical test. And why not let you watch me do this too? I know many of you out there struggle with these issues as well, so maybe this will give you some motivation and strength.

My poor trainer, he has no idea what he’s gotten himself into. But I believe in him. I gave him my word that I will listen and obey and do EVERYTHING he says, so you are all my witness that I have to do this. He says if I do, that it will only take 6 months…how freaking awesome is that? I’ve tried to get there on my own, for let’s just say 30 years (it’s not unrealistic to think that I was trying to lose weight at 6, trust me!) so 6 months is nothing. That’s not even as long as I gave up drinking to be pregnant, three times. So I got this.
Mind over matter.
Visualize the result.
I can do it, I am strong.
And on the bright side he’s gonna fix everything I was saving up my penny’s for Dr. 90210 to fix (picture on my Vision Board), but this is better. Even I know that.
Thank you Jermayne, I will be your best client ever. I promise to shut my mouth and do what I’m told (I said try right? Crap, no I said promise).

Hustle Believe Receive -The Inception

you can do it

I want to challenge you. I want to push you past your comfort zone. I want you to believe in you. But most of all I want you to KNOW with everything inside you that, if you want it badly enough; and are willing to do the work, that you can change any and all aspects of your life. You can achieve ANYTHING.

Nothing in your life “just happened to you” we are all responsible for the choices that have brought us to this point in our lives. Realizing that, and owning that ,will give you power. Power to change your results moving forward.

Life is a journey, it’s a constant classroom. It’s up to us to take those lessons and apply them so we can move from 3rd to 4th grade. If we never learn and adapt our strategy than we will remain stagnant with the same results, and never achieve our goals.

I’m challenging you to change your life. It’s a tall order. Maybe your life is perfect, maybe there is no room for improvement, and if that’s the case, can we switch!?? But I think you, like me are searching for self-improvement and to take your entire life; relationships, finances, career, goals to the next level.  All I can do is pass on the knowledge I have learned the past few years that has enabled me to do just that. I’m not a Scholar, or a Physiologist, I’m a mother and a writer and a student of life. I hope and prey that you find encouragement to make the changes you want to see in your life, and if I can help in some way, than my struggles will have been more than worth it.

Hustle.Believe.Receive. Part 1.
 ACTION Items:

1. Define Your Ultimate Dream. Know what you want. Sometimes it’s easier when you’re starting out to know what you DON’T want and that’s OK too. But you need to be clear on the reason you want
to make a change in your life or go after your dream.  You won’t get anywhere until this step is clearly defined.

2. Relentless Pursuit: Be fully committed to achieving your desired outcome and manifesting your dream. There can’t be a plan B. You have to want this more than anything else, and be willing to sacrifice for it and regardless of the obstacles in your way, be determined to never give up.

3. Create a Life Plan. Map out what you want your life to look like five years down the road, in every category. Be detailed and specific. Write it all down.

4. Create a Movie in your Head. Take the time to visualize each end result in your Life Plan.  Put yourself in a specific day in that life and make a movie that covers all the details; see it, smell it, feel it, want it.

5. Create a physical Future Board. This is the physical representation of your Life Plan.  It sits at your desk at work, or is hung on your bedroom wall, reminding you what you are working for, what
your future life will look like. It helps you remove the barriers of your current reality and start to visualize yourself living a whole different kind of life.

6. The Hustle. This is the work you do on a daily basis that get’s you closer to your Ultimate Dream. It’s action. For an athlete it’s; working out, eating right, not going out drinking every night, it’s keeping their mind right, it’s getting enough sleep, it’s practice…practice…practice! What is your hustle? This step is the absolute key to success. It can be tiny little things, or that huge leap of faith, but without it you will not be successful.

8. Chill Out.  You don’t control when your dream will manifest. You have no say over the timing or how it will all materialize, so chill out! Stop expecting it yesterday and getting frustrated and pissed that it’s not already here. This is a life long journey, it’s a way of life, and it’s for the rest of your life. If you follow this formula you WILL manifest your Ultimate Dream. You will live it, and along the way it will begin falling into place piece by peace. Trust the process and relax.

7. Manifest That! This is you living in awareness and gratitude so that you can recognize the manifestation when it comes. Most of the time it will show up in a form and from a direction you least expected and if your not aware and grateful for your current situation you will miss it. It also shows up in the form of opportunity, again if your not hyper aware and expecting your manifestation you will
miss it.

Hustle.Believe.Receive. Part 2.
Get Your Mind Right:
*These steps are the mental side of Part 1, and are actually applied together.
1. Change the Voices in Your Head. Control your thoughts. Your thoughts predict your future. Want to create a better future? It starts in your mind first, control that and the words you speak, and you
will start to change your future outcomes.  Only speak it if you want it to come true. That applies to EVERYTHING you say. Teach that to your kids! And everyone you know. What you say today you will live out tomorrow.
2. BELIEVE. If you don’t fully believe in your UltimateDream and that this plan of success will work, then how could it possibly ever work? Change your core beliefs about what you think is possible for you, and start to have faith in the possibility of possibility. Once you truly believe you will start to see amazing and fast results, because that belief, that hope gives you joy which changes your energy and brings you more joy.  This is called an Upward Spiral. We all want that!
3. Be Grateful! One day one of this journey you need to look around your life (even if it’s one you currently hate) and say “I am so blessed and so thankful for what I have…” and name three things.
That is the new head space you operate in now. Instead of someone who bitches about what they don’t like and what they don’t have your the person who is “blessed” and “grateful” even if you don’t actually feel that way. But if you don’t at least fake it, you won’t ever see the true results that will make you actually feel it.
Which brings me to…
4. Fake it ‘Till You Make it. You don’t have to know it, or believe it, or even see it, in the very beginning… that all comes over time.  So to get you there, you gotta fake it. Tell yourself a million little lies. Whenever you think you can’t, say you CAN. Whoever you think it will never happen, tell yourself and SAY it’s around the corner. It’s pretty basic but it works with almost anything. It makes you step up your game. It keeps you on your toes, it makes you learn and adapt quicker, and it forces you to take risks, all these things you will need throughout your journey, and you’ll constantly come back to this principle.
5. Speak It! Affirm your future, own it, claim it. Use motto’s and mantras to claim what is coming into your life. Talk about it as if you know that’s your next step, make plans for it.  Put it out into the Universe that this is your plan, this is what’s coming to you and pretty soon the people around you will start to believe you. That will hold you accountable to your dream and those plans, so then you use The Hustle even more.
“Anything is possible child, anything can be”.

P.S. to “Reminder”

This is the perfect example of why I believe so strongly in the Law of Attraction and that how I’ve been applying it really does work! I needed to find a way to get my car without spending the money to get it towed. I called and explained what happened to the dealership, he said it was probably just a fuse that was out to my ABS break system that disabled the cruise control to come off, and that I would be ok to drive it in today. I did, and he replaced the fuze for free!  We are back in business baby, and I didn’t have to pay a tow truck or some expensive repair on my poor car. Thank God! Faith is rewarded. Don’t panic even when you really want to…..

All though this morning I was informed we are all taking a 10% pay cut at work to avoid lay off…I just said “bring it!” LOLing now…. I can make it through whatever you throw at me!

I share all of this with you, not because I like having my business out there (it’s not always flattering I know, no one likes to admit they are struggling) but because I need you all to know that this works for ANYONE. It’s working for me, and I will keep sharing my down times openly so that you can watch me go through them, and know that I’m dealing with the same things many of you are. But I’m not going to give up on my dream, I’m watching it come true more every day, and my attitude towards life has changed my life. It will change yours too. You don’t need to be rich, just believe.

Reminder.

Today was a rough day, it was the kinda day when the old me would really, really enjoy a pity-party. When all I wanted to do was sit down, and say I quit! I’m tired of bustin my ass always to run into brick walls. I’m tired in general.

On January 1st of this year I had an overwhelming sense that this would be my best year yet. That this would be the year where all my hard work would pay off, it would be the year that changes everything.  I felt it, I verbalized it, and I BELIEVE it (not believed) with all my heart.

And then….All day today I fought the urge to add up all the facts. Fought to keep the negative thoughts from totally depress me. These are the facts that I kept mentally playing tennis with all day long:

  1. In March my position that I loved was eliminated at work.
  2. Got a job I loved even more in April, which was also eliminated in May.
  3. In June my home flooded which left me and my 3 children homeless for the month of June, and because I had no job or unemployment, was at the mercy of the Red Cross.
  4. Yesterday while driving my kids, and a friend home at about 9:30 PM my car’s accelerator got stuck and the anti-lock breaks froze. After avoiding a high-speed, highway collision, I was able to get the car in neutral and get it off to the side of the road. However, potentially dropping the transmission in the process. Thank God my girlfriend was able to send her husband to pick us up and take us home, but being on the side of the road in the black of night with three little kids for 45 minutes is a little frightening, to say the least. My car is still there. Financially I’m not in a position to fix it. I’m not exactly sure what if anything I can do, in the near future.

So yeah. Today I fought the urge to throw a pity-party or to add up these facts. Instead each time, they tried to creep in, I replaced them with one single thought “I am beyond grateful that my 3 babies, me and our best friend who were all in the car, got out of that death trap safely, thank you God for all our blessings”. That has been my mantra all day. It’s the only thing I will allow myself to focus on. Especially considering the night before there was a huge 4 car pile up outside our house, just minutes after I got home which caused life-threatening injuries to multiple people (that had really shaken me up). I’m blessed and grateful to be safe. If I’ve learned anything it’s that everything shy of death is something that I and anyone else can handle and take. Somehow, some way anything that is not that, we can deal with, and it will all work out. So thank God.

But if I didn’t have these tools, I would seriously want to quit when these things happen. I’m used to dealing with extreme adversity, I have my whole life. But at a certain point it gets fucking annoying! At a certain point you just are ready for shit to get easy.

Before I sat to write this, I was chatting on Facebook with a friend who’s mind always inspires me….and I remembered how blessed I am and how freaking far I have come. And that this year HAS BEEN THE BEST OF MY LIFE. I’ve done and accomplished more this year then any other. And though things have been hard, they are teaching me lessons, and I’m determined to be awake and aware to receive them. I KNOW, LIKE I KNOW, LIKE I KNOW, that this year will bring me more joy then pain in the end. That my dreams come true more and more with each passing day, and that all of this struggle is to remind me that I am strong. That what I’ve learned DOES work, not just for me but for many of you. I know it does because you write to me and tell me how you’ve applied it to your life and it’s changed you as well. That alone is worth all the struggle I’ve faced. To see the hope in someone who didn’t have it before, that is more rewarding then anything I’ve ever done in business. I really am blessed and grateful beyond measure, for all that each of you teach me, and for the encouragement you give.

My motivation for life~ today’s status reminders:

  • I can do it, I am strong.
  • Aint nothing gonna break me, nothing gonna hold me down, I’m gonna keep on movin.
  • I’ve been to the bottom, I’ve suffered a lot. I deserve to be rich headed straight to the top.
  • Dare you to try and break me. Aint gonna happen.
  • When faced with a seemingly insurmountable obstacle, u can A. find a way to make it surmountable or B. Quit. what are u made of?

Napoleon Hill: Success Tips

think and grow rich I’m just now reading the book “Think and Grow Rich” By Napoleon Hill, and so much of it speaks to me. As you know I’m NOT focused on obtaining “Money” or “Wealth” it’s not the reason I go after my dream. However the principles of success are laid out so well and in such a motivational way that they resonate with me on many levels, and I do believe that we create our future and that includes our financial future. He believes in focusing only on the money, I believe it’s the experiences that we can draw into our lives regardless of wealth or not, my feeling is that if you focus on your dreams that the rest will come (I believe much of his teachings are in line with this concept as well).

So I thought I would share with you some of my favorite motivational quotes so far. I hope they inspire and motivate you the way they have me.

  • THOUGHTS ARE THINGS, and powerful things at that, when they are mixed with definiteness of purpose, persistence, and a burning desire for the translation into wealth.
  • Your dream must be DEFINITE.
  • When one is truly ready for a thing, it puts in it’s appearance.
  • When opportunity comes it often comes in a different form, and from a different direction then expected.
  • Opportunity often comes disguised as misfortune, or temporary defeat, this is why most people miss it.
  • An intangible thought can be turned into it’s physical equivalent.
  • Initiative, faith and the will to win, result in the realization of your dream.
  • One of the most common causes of failure is the habit of quitting when one is overtaken by temporary defeat.
  • Before success comes in your life you are sure to meet with much temporary defeat, and perhaps some failure. The most successful people in history achieved their greatest success one step beyond the point at which defeat had overtaken them.
  • Failure is a great trickster with a keen sense of irony and cunning. It takes great delight in tripping you when success is almost within reach.
  • Learn the art of converting defeat into stepping-stones to opportunity.
  • When wealth begins to come it comes so quickly, in such great abundance, that you wonder where it has been hiding all those lean years.
  • Wealth begins with a state of mind and definiteness of purpose.
  • Success comes to those who become success conscious.
  • Most people can’t think in terms of wealth, because their thought habits have been steeped in poverty, want, misery, failure and defeat.
  • Key to success: Desire. Knowing exactly what you want.
  • We have the power to control our thoughts.
  • Desire is not a hope! It’s not a wish! It is a keen, pulsating desire, which transcends everything else. It is DEFINITE.
  • Chose a definite goal, then place all your energy, all your willpower, all your effort—everything—behind that goal.
  • Stand by your desire until it becomes the dominating obsession of your life–and–finally, a FACT.
  • Leave no possible way for failure. You either win or die! (that’s a burning desire!)
  • Wishing will not get you the life you want. But desiring it with a state of mind that becomes an obsession, then planning definite ways and means to accomplish your dream, and backing those plans with persistence which does not accept failure, will bring you the outcome you desire.
  • If you do not see it in your imagination you will never see it in your reality.
  • If there is just one quality you MUST possess to win, it’s definiteness f purpose, knowing EXACTLY what you want, and wanting it with all your heart.
  • Success requires no apologies, failure permits no excuses.
  • Dreamers on a mission, do NOT quit!
  • Remove the word “impossible” from your vocabulary.
  • The greatest achievement was, at first, and for a time, just a dream.
  • Dreams are the seedlings of reality.
  • A burning desire to be, and to do, is the starting point from which the dreamer must take off. Dreams are not born of indifference, laziness, or lack of ambition.
  • All who succeed in life get off to a bad start, and pass through many heartbreaking struggles before they “arrive”. The turning point in the lives of those who succeed usually comes at the moment of some crisis, through which they are introduced to their “real self”.
  • There is a big difference between wishing for something and being ready to receive it.
  • You are not ready for it, until you BELIEVE you can achieve it. The state of mind must be belief, not a hope or a wish. Open- mindedness is essential for belief. Closed minds do no inspire faith, courage or belief.
  • No more effort is required to aim high in life, to demand abundance and prosperity, than is required to accept misery and poverty.
