Sceptical: I sure was. Well my car has seen better days and was spending more time in the garage then it was on the road. Financially I was not in a position to replace it anytime soon. In such a situation, ones mind starts that wishful thinking every time one sees an advertisement for the latest wonder on wheels. As it was, there is a billboard hulling very close to my home and on the very day my car refused to start for the third time that week an advertisement for a Mercedes car, of a model I much admired, was posted. Well you may think that I would feel somewhat chagrined by the hand of fate tormenting me. However I took it as a good omen that things were about to change. Now that I was waiting for the bus most mornings I had time to appreciate the object of my dreams, quite often daydreaming that I was driving the aforementioned vehicle. One morning the bus driver got so impatient with me, lost in my fantasizing, he closed the doors and drove away leaving to wait for the next.

Well some weeks past and the billboard poster was changed and my car finally found it’s way to the knackers yard. However those weeks that the advertisement had been there had set up a situation in my subconscious that every time I approached the bus stop I would automatically begin to let my imagination run away. Well would you believe it? Yesterday I was waiting at the bus stop. It was pouring with rain. I did not have time to go back home and get my umbrella and was getting something of a soaking when all of a sudden the car of my dreams, in the colour and trim, I had so long thought of pulls up beside me. The window winds down and the smiling guy inside says to me, “Excuse me mate. Is there a Starbucks near by.” “Around the corner,” I say as the bus, that is blocked from stopping by the aforementioned car, passes by.
